The Habibie Center was founded by Bacharuddin Jusuf Habibie and his
family as an independent, non-governmental and non-profit organization.
The Vision Habibie Center is to advance modernization and efforts
democratization in Indonesia which is based on morality and integrity
culture and religious values.
The Habibie Center's mission is first, to create society culturally and structurally democratic which recognizes, respects and uphold human rights, as well as study and promote issues of democratic development and human rights; and second, for promote and enhance the management of human and business resources technology socialization. This mission is used as the basis of the program strategic development in the agenda of The Habibie Center which includes: democratization and human rights, human resource development in the fields of science and technology, media and information, sources marine power, socialization and dissemination of technology, and formation networking and cooperation.
The Habibie Center has collaborated nationally, regionally and internationally, and has several times been credited with managing grants and collaborations from and with national institutions, regional and international, such as: Hanns Seidel Foundation, International IDEA (Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance), National Democratic Institute (NDI), Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF), The World Bank, Center for Asian Strategic Studies-India (CASS-India), The National Bureau of Asian Research, Taipei Economic & Trade Office (TETO), The European Union (EU), International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD), The Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO), Foundation TIFA, USAID-SERASI and USAID Chemonics, Coordinating Ministry for Field Affairs People's Welfare of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenko Kesra) / Ministry Coordinator for Human Development and Culture of Indonesia (Kemenko PMK), Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenkum HAM), Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT), Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenko The economy), and others. The network development will continue endeavored to support The Habibie Center's programs in in order to contribute to the achievement of a modern and democratic Indonesia.
